The ESC Cardiovascular Statistics and Atlas projects are coordinated by the European Heart Health Institute.

The Institute's ambition is to promote evidence-based health policy and practice in European cardiology, through the comprehensive and rigorous analysis of the dynamics of health systems across Europe, the uncovering and study of cost-effective and efficient patterns and the facilitation of their wider dissemination, adoption and utilisation.

The ESC Atlas of Cardiology represents one of the Institute's most ambitious initiatives, collecting evidence on ESC member countries healthcare systems on unparalleled scale. Besides providing geographical, political, demographic, economic, and social information, health and risk status of each country, and information related to the organization and financing of the healthcare system, it includes a large section devoted to cardiology, describing cardiac care services, human and capital resources and indicating their reimbursement methods when available.
